About the Practice
Notary By Lawyer is exactly what the name says: notarial and commissioning services provided directly by a lawyer. It is the trade name of Syed Zain Ali, Barrister and Solicitor, Notary Public and Commissioner for Taking Affidavits, licensed by the Law Society of Ontario. Not a franchise, not a chain, not a company with rotating staff; one accountable professional whose licence number appears at the bottom of this page and whose signature appears on your document.
Why does this practice exist?
Because most people need something in the middle: more care than a quick stamp, less overhead than a full law-firm retainer for a ten-minute signing. I built this practice for that middle: a lawyer’s eye on every document, at a flat posted fee, with same-day availability and plain-English answers. The goal is paperwork done carefully enough that it does not come back.
